My adobe illustrator won't allow me to open a new document anyone have any idea why or how i can fix it?

I'm a graphic designer and need my illustrator to allow me to create new templates

    You just wrote that you have to open a saved document.

    Can you try and in Preferences > General check the "Legacy New document dialog"

    Does that work for new documents?

    If the issue still persists, would you mind sharing a screenshot of how the new document window look like? Also share the version of Illustrator and OS used.

    I have the same question. I have the newest subscription to CC. Mac 10.10.5. Lots of quirks since I upgraded to Yosemite and had to reinstall the CC apps. Illustrator won't open a new document and I can't use the zoom in and out shortcuts, and other things pop up as I work. It's really frustrating.

    what exactly is happening? Don't you get a dialog? Does it crash? something else?

    Yes please always list your operating system when posting.

    Can you pull down the new command? Does you computer get stuck after the new command? Is you Adobe Creative Cloud App running without  errors?

    What version of Illustrator, and what operating system? What happens when you try to make a new document?
