My adobe illustrator won't allow me to open a new document anyone have any idea why or how i can fix it?

I'm a graphic designer and need my illustrator to allow me to create new templates

Can you try and in Preferences > General check the "Legacy New document dialog"

Does that work for new documents?

I have the same question. I have the newest subscription to CC. Mac 10.10.5. Lots of quirks since I upgraded to Yosemite and had to reinstall the CC apps. Illustrator won't open a new document and I can't use the zoom in and out shortcuts, and other things pop up as I work. It's really frustrating.
