My fonts no longer work since Illustrator was updated to version 2024 and the same with version 2025 .   Worked just fine with the previous version.   Nothing has changed with my fonts and files I use to be able to open without missing fonts now has the fonts missing and I have tried reloading them to font book and still can not get them to recognise them.  Any help would be appreciated as I have an older file I need to update and when the new ones were installed my old version went away so I cant go back,

.  thanks so much

When you say "previous version", what version did you have before? Type 1 fonts were deprecated after CC2022. If so, Type 1 fonts are no longer usable.

Since you mentioned Font Book, you can see what font type they are there, like so:

Basically your options are to upgrade/switch your fonts to OpenType PS/TrueType versions, or (and this might be too late for you now) keep that old version of Illustrator around just to handle old legacy files.

If you have old Adobe-supplied Type 1 fonts, know that most of these are no longer available from them as the rights have returned to the respective font foundry (e.g. Monotype/Linotype), and as such are not available through Adobe Fonts cloud service, and even at the foundry for sale, the much improved OpenType versions will have a significant cost to them.

There are font conversion utilities out there, but using these may violate your license and cause other issues going forward, but are useful in a pinch, but the GOOD ones also have a cost to them. Avoid online converters as these are often sketchy at best.

Some fonts (like Corel font libraries) came in both Type 1 and TrueType versions, so you if you have used some of those in the past you might luck out by swapping in the TrueType versions.

I have had 2023 (27.8.1) still on my computer when 2024 was installed.  When it updated to 2025 it got rid of 2023 and kept just 2024 and 2025 so thats been my work around on all older files I have and worked up till 2025 was installed.

I know early releases of CC2023 were still able to use them, but later point upgrades couldn't... not sure when it switched. My copy of CC2023 is 27.9.6 and it definitely does NOT accept Type 1.

If your fonts are Postscript Type 1 (as Monika has suggested) then the reason they are no longer working is that ever since January 2023 those type of fonts are no longer supported and recognized by Creative Cloud programs. You can tell if they are Postscript Type 1 if each font requires two files (an outline font and a screen font).  They will need to be replaced by either OpenType or True Type fonts.

Are they PostScript Type 1 fonts?

How do I check that?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
