Need graphic styles in an Illustrator action [Was Graphic Styles - ALT/OPTION]

Dear Everyone,

I teach Illustrator in an online class, and a student is having an interesting issue where ALT/OPTION is not working in the graphic styles panel. For example, she has a colored shape - she holds ALT/OPTION to apply the drop shadow preset graphic style to avoid losing the fill color when the drop shadow applies, yet it reverts to a "no fill"; when she re-fills the shape, the style is visible. OR, same colored shape - she applies a graphic style (let's say a texture, etc.) and then wants to apply a second style on top. She can't do it by holding ALT/OPTION and clicking on the second graphic style but rather has to add it through the appearance panel.

New files and restarting the program haven't helped. Is there a way to try resetting the Graphic Style panel or program preferences, maybe? Other ideas?

Hello, in my case this didn't solve the problem.

I need a graphic style being permanently saved into the "graphic style" default folder, assuming this could solve my issue. I correctly created a graphic style box with all my styles (and permanently saved in my working area), than I set an action -rotate, align, graphic style- but every time I open a new document the graphic style is disappeared from the default folder. The action settings are correct, even using the Additive [was “addictive”; changed by moderator] mode on, that saves the custom graphic style into the main folder, isn't working. Also, setting new preferences did not solved the problem. Any suggestion?
(ps. I'm using Ai 2019 version 23.0.3 on a Mac)

There is no default folder for graphic styles.

You need to put the into the New document profile.

This is an old version, but it basically works the same now: Create a custom new document profile (Illustrator CS3)
