Need help to set up batch processing for 110+ exports

Hello,

I am pretty new to AI, I use it to create maps. I create my rough maps in third-party software and import them into Illustrator to polish their graphic design and add their legend and details. For my current assignment, I have to push out a map of the same area over 100 years (1 map per year), so they all share the same legend, title, etc.

I was wondering if I could use AI's batch processing to:

-Import the map (a jpeg image) into my artboard at exactly the same place and dimensions as the previous image

- Send it to the back

- Export into a PNG and save it under a numbered name in a designated folder

I have attached a screenshot of the artboard with the image I want replaced in each iteration selected, in case it helps.

I have tried automating this very process before but I could not set it up properly and kept saving the rough maps as "Adobe Illustrator 28.0 Artwork" files as a result.

Could automating this process be possible? If so, how?

Thank you very much for your time 🙂
