Need Scripting or action help

Good afternoon, all.

I work as the lead designer for a production company.

Artists under me need to adjust artworks so that they can be printed out in Heat Transfer.

they're saying that this is taking to long, so I'm trying to figure out a script or an action that will automatically do what they need to do. This will save us a metric TON of time, here.

I have part of it down already, but I'm having issues with the last bit.

I'm trying to make it so that people can simply click on the artwork in question, click a button or run a script, and it will size the artboard to that art and put an additional .5 width and hight.

None of our templates are the same size, our company just refuses to fix them.

Is this at all possible? I've been trying for 3 hours now and still no luck.

Sounds doable with an action or a script.

You are saying you've already created a partial solution. Can you share it? Perhaps together with at least one sample Illustrator file for inspection.
