Sounds good, I will try and do my best describing the functions without getting into too much detail. The script would be used to automate taking artwork from a master template and copying it and scaling it into different sized "markers" in preperation for clothing production. So XS - 4XL shirts, shorts etc.

Step 1: Opens a dialog box where I can select a number of files (templates) to open and be used in the script, probably across a server. Then be able to select a save destination and file name for each file.

Step 2: From a previously opened file, I'd like the artwork to be copied (master marker), and then pasted directly into the templates previously opened in step 1.

Step 3: each separate piece or grouping of artwork would then need to be scaled a certain amount per template.

Step 4: Each template would then auto save to the desired location provided in step 1.

The idea here is to automate the tedious part of our marker production steps, opening files, saving files, and scaling artwork.

We've had scrpits made before, but were of a slightly different sort so I know it's probably possible. Thanks for helping!

Now from my main account, previous response was from mistaken one.
Let me go through the steps one more time, so hopefully i'll get the correct view.

1. Opening master file, with data
2. Opening the X templates
3. Selecting where to save those files, when the work is done

4. Copy, scale, and place artwork in marked places in all opened templates
5. Saving to locations

The process you discribe is certainly scriptable. Are you on Mac? I've developed a similar scripted solution for my employer. I started by learning Keyboard Maestro (Mac automation software). It provides access to many of the capabilities you describe with NO scripting required. But it is also fully compatible with JavaScript and other scripting languages.
