New dimension tool: will user defined scales be added?

I'm delighted to see the addition of the dimensioning tool, but I'm not wild about the fixed choice of scaling ratios. The option to set one's own scales would be great.

 

Failing that, a 1:12 scale seems like a glaring omission for those of us still using inches and feet. 

 

Am I missing something?

    Landscaper here who's super excited for the dimension tool too! Agree that the ability to create my own scale would be great, but have a question since maybe I'm missing something.

     

    I use the 1:8 scale (1" = 8').  BUT using this scale with the dimension tool shows the correct results BUT they are in Inches instead of feet. When I switch the units to feet OR feet & inches everything goes out of whack, but is also nowhere near the correct dimensions. 

     

    I imagine the same issue would happen with your 1:12 scale too. Any thoughts or suggestions for what I could be missing would be highly appreciated!

      Follow up, the 1:100 scale gets me close, but is not exactly what I need. I'd actually need a custom 1:96 scale to get the correct feet/inches. That's not currently an option.

        I agree! Sometimes I have to use scalings like 1:1,5 or 1:15, so user definded scalings would be nice.

          I agree, custom scales would make a logical addition. The best thing you can do is create a suggestion at Uservoice; I had a quick search and couldn't find an existing similar post:

          If you do create a uservoice post, please share it here so that others may find it and vote. I will also share it in prerelease.

           

          You could also join the Illustrator prerelease program and take part in discussions about beta and other upcoming features. They use a Slack workspace and a forum:
