New Document size value resetting in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign 2025

Hey,
I have the same issue in every Adobe programm I use - Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
The issue has come up in the past week and occures on multiple machines if I try.
Newest version is installed and still has the issue.

Whenever I go to create a new file and try to type in the sizes, it keeps resetting back to the last used numbers for 3-4 times until it finally gives up wanting to change it.
This is immensly annoying and I can't find any info about this. Any idea what that might be?

Best regards

Correct answer BriGuyOSC

I just searched Uservoice and was not finding something that matched, so I created one myself.

Same issue in Illustrator and Photoshop ALL THE TIME now. It's extremely frustrating. And sometimes I'll quickly type in the values of the new file and hit return only to get a canvas that doesn't look right. And when I check, sure enough the dimensions aren't what I type because it had been reset.

Something is broken in the New Document panel. Please fix this!

Same issue on macOS here, it is impossible to create a new document with the size that i need without trying it 3-5 times. Same thing happens on different devices of mine on Photoshop and InDesign.

Hello @blurr,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I tried replicating this behavior on my end but could not. Would you mind trying to reset Illustrator's preferences as described in this article (https://adobe.ly/4hzTtrR) and checking if it helps?

Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders, the location of which is mentioned above.

Also, try the following steps and check if they help:

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Same issue on a 2017 imac pro, 3 GHz 10-Core Intel Xeon W., Sequoia 15.1, InDesign 2025

Opening new documents, especially Indesign, is super clunky. It jumps around and prevents me from tabbing to the next field, doesn't let me select units, won't let me create or close the window. I have to restart indeisgn which is going to potentially cause me to lose part of a different document.

Hi @Robert231256682ig2,

Thank you for reaching out. We have tried but are unable to replicate it on our end. Could you please run the applications in Safe Mode (Win / Mac) and check if the behavior persists. Ensure only the Adobe apps are open in Safe Mode and observe the results.

Could you also share your OS/Illustrator version and a screen recording of your workflow so I can check this with the product team? This information will help us identify the problem. Thank you for your patience!

Here is the screen recording of the issue happening. This is on Windows 11 Home v23H2. Illustrator version 29.0.1

Hello @Robert231256682ig2,

Thanks for sharing the screen recording. I tried replicating this on my end but could not. Would you mind checking if it works better after rebooting your computer in Safe Mode? Also, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello,

the behavior persists.
Running Win10 on latest Version 22H2,
AMD R5 5500, 32 GB RAM, RTX 4060 TI.

There have been no changes to the system for over a year, only Adobe Updates.

Best regards
