Hey,
I have the same issue in every Adobe programm I use - Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
The issue has come up in the past week and occures on multiple machines if I try.
Newest version is installed and still has the issue.
Whenever I go to create a new file and try to type in the sizes, it keeps resetting back to the last used numbers for 3-4 times until it finally gives up wanting to change it.
This is immensly annoying and I can't find any info about this. Any idea what that might be?
Best regards
I changed my general preferences to "use legacy "New Document" Dialog" and the issue stopped for me. YMMV
I just searched Uservoice and was not finding something that matched, so I created one myself.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you all for your patience. We are unable to reproduce this issue on our end. To help troubleshoot further, could you please try running Illustrator in Safe Mode (Win / Mac) and check if the behavior persists. Ensure only Adobe apps are open during this session and observe if the resetting occurs.
If the issue still happens in Safe Mode, would you be open to having a debug session with our product/engineering team? This would allow us to investigate the issue more closely a

I had this problem on my old Mac. This week I'm using a brand new machine, just set up and installed with CC this weekend, and disappointed to see this problem is still here. Weird that Adobe can't replicate this issue.

Same issue for me on both PS and IND. Running Macbook Pro '23 with Apple M3 Max chip. Extremely annoying, the only way around it is to be super fast changing the values of the document size before Indesign/photoshop resets it.

Did you see my comment above? So far this is still working fine for me and seems to bypass this bug in the software.

Maybe that's a workaround on this issue, but InDesign still has glitchy behaviour nonetheless.
Just discovered the settings I have in the Layers panel randomly resets itself. For me, I prefer 'Paste Remembers Layers' selected and 'Ungroup Remembers Layers' to be deselected. However 'Paste Remembers...' randomly deselects and 'Ungroup Remembers...' selects. Very spasmodic and somewhat irritating, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was somehow linked to this Document Size setting issue we all have here.

Same annoying problem as everyone else. I enter dims, tab to a new field, and they change. And they will continue changing 3-4 times. It happens in InDesign and Photoshop as well. Please fix this Adobe. This is ridiculous for as much money as we pay.

Everyone in my design studio is having the same issues. Amongst others. Why are the new software versions so glitchy?

This is still happening for me, but now it doesn't visually reset. I put in the dimensions I need, everything looks fine, I hit create, and the canvas looks completely wrong!
This is even more dangerous that the resetting issue. Now I have to either check the file once created or it has to be an obviously incorrect size - else I'll end up creating the design to the wrong spec! Honestly Adobe! This is crazy. During busy spells I'm making many new documents a day and I WILL eventually forget to double-check this and end up having projects sent out to the wrong spec.
For the past couple weeks I thought the issue was resolved as the values didn't reset... Now I have to go back through all the projects I've made recently and double-check the specs as I'm guessing some are wrong but just similar proportions to what I wanted to make.

Same here. I have adopted the mindset to double the dimensions of my artboards before proceeding with designs.

Interesting. Didn't even know about that option. When I created the bug report last month, I did get the following response from an admin:
"Ah, the flawed modern File > New...
As noted in a comment on forums, toggling it to the legacy one can be a workaround."
Have another upvote! 😉

I'm not really sure when this started happening to me (maybe last summer) but it's been quite awhile and I'm sick of it. I can't believe this is still a problem.
I have the exact same issue on Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. I have made templates of my most common sizes/details in order to avoid the New Document window all together. I usually type some sizes/details out knowing it will reset and then wait a minute before typing in new sizes/details for the second time. Sometimes it will reset again even after the second time. It will always go back to the first most recent item in the Recent tab.
I saw someone in this thread mention to go to the Saved tab before entering stuff into the details section to save themselves from the resetting. I supposed I'll do this for now. Just wanted to add my voice to this thread, it's very annoying.
Also, this happens on my Mac as well as my PC.

FWIW, there was an Illustrator update that I applied just a few minutes ago, and in my extremely small amount of testing, so far, the issue hasn't happened again. Will see if it pops back up.

I am also having this issue in Illustrator and Photoshop (that's the only software I use). I've noticed this happening for the past several months and am on Windows 11 and using up to date Adobe apps. Extremely frustrating.

Same here. For me, I think this started after the latest "big" updates. Happens on both Illustrator and Photoshop. It's really, really frustrating.

The fact that they keep stating they are "unable to replicate the issue" is almost as frustrating as this issue itself. Of course they are unable to replicate because it is something that happens randomly! Sometimes I go days without it happening even one time and other days it happens between every single new file I make (for context I am creating around x10-x25 new files per day, all with different sizes and bleed settings as well). This has been happening for over a year now, and is extremely dangerous for me specifically because I am working with print production files for large format event signage which need to be extrememly accurate in order to fit dims provided by our CAD department for custom structures. I have to triple check every time I make a new file that my sizes match what I intend to avoid expensive reprints. I have gotten into the habit now of verifying my entered sizes, but this should not be happening with software that we pay so much for. Its actually unacceptable.
