New file menu is too big for screen

New Here ,
Nov 20, 2021 Nov 20, 2021

In illustrator when I to to file new the pop up window is extremely large to the point that I can't see the entire thing and I can't get to the settings or to save (create). I do have 3 screens and it spans all three. This was not a problem until the last update (can't remember when that was) and so I do have the newest version. This is not an issue in Photoshop. I would greatly appreciate any help with fixing this. Thanks.

I'm expereincing the same problem. I think it has to do with the fact I am using a big screen tv as a monitor due to my failing vision. The New Documents window is impossible to use as now to start a new project or document, the bottom is where the button is which is off the page completely.

Hello @RKane-1,

It seems like you're encountering an issue with the New Document window being too large and extending beyond the screen, making it difficult to access essential options and buttons.

Here are a few steps you can try to address this issue:

  • Ensure that your UI scaling settings in Illustrator are set to the smallest option. You can find this option under Edit > Preferences > User Interface.

  • If you're using a big-screen TV as a monitor, it's possible that the scaling settings on your operating system are causing the issue. Try adjusting the scaled resolution of your OS display settings to 100% and see if it helps.

  • Sometimes, corrupted preferences can cause unexpected behavior in Illustrator. You can try resetting Illustrator preferences to their default settings.

  • Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause such issues.

I hope one of these solutions helps resolve the issue for you. If you continue to experience problems, please share the OS & Ai version, Monitor make & model & screenshot of the issue. We'll do our best to assist you further.

Best regards,

Anshul Saini

I have the same problem, likely from a recent update. Makes the program very difficult to use.

The solution should not be that the user has to edit their global OS settings to accomodate the abberant window that is needed for a couple seconds during use of the program. Solution needs to come in an update. Thank you.

I have found a workaround to this problem. I expanded the menu on the left (for example, add text). This made the menu the size of my screen. Then I hit "Ctrl"  "-" a few times. Once I was satisfied with the size, I collapsed the menu, and I am pretty much back to the previous display and content with the larger work area and smaller menu bars.
