New repeat grid tool

Question

I'm having trouble figuring out how to make a pattern tile using the new options in the grid repeat for flipping the columns and rows. Those are options that the regular pattern tool doesn't have, and I can't get a pattern tile that repeats seamlessly when I drag a pattern I made using those options to make a swatch. When I play around with those options and view the pattern in the grid repeat mode it is a perfect repeating pattern, but when I release it, I don't have that same pattern as a tile with all the options I worked to create.

There is no easy way to create a pattern tile from the repeat feature.

Expand the result and try to figure out the rectangle that defines the repeat.

Put that rectangle in the back, fill and stroke it with none.

Try to remove as much unnessecary elements outside that rectangle and drag the result including the invisible rectangle to the swatches panel.
