I am new to AI and downloaded the trial version of AI cc. I made a design and saved it as an AI file. I want to export the image to an online site as a vector image. This site receives only vector images as ai or eps. So when I export it as ai or eps it doesn't work... screen says image not found. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I don't have a lot of experience in this and wonder if someone would help me. Thanks!

This could be an issue of how you created the document. It is possible to import an image and save it as an ai file. This is not vector, it is raster.

In that situation, it could cause a problem with a site or service that requires a vector image.

However if you use a shape, the pen tool, etc. This would create a vector document that will work.

A raster image can be traced with the pen tool or with the auto trace feature. Once this is done and expanded if necessary, the raster image can then be removed from the document. Then the vector file will work.

Some times it is easier to capture your entire screen so we can see what is happening. Then we don't need to guess.

Good luck...

Which screen says "Not found"? Illustrator or that website? And when does it say that?

You shouldn't have to "export" the file.  Their site must give you the ability to "upload" your file.  Something where, when prompted, you select the file and their script uploads it to their site.

Thank you jdanek, Monika Gause, & Silkrooster for your reply to my question & I'm sorry for the late response. I figured out the vector export problem... on this particular website I didn't know that there is  a certain sequence one must follow in order to upload... a jpg is to be uploaded first and then it is assigned an ID#, then after that other file formats may be uploaded... these other files are then linked to the  ID#... I wasn't following the sequence, that's why I had the problem... thanks again.
