Hi,
In the latest version of Illustrator there is a strange issue that I can't appear to switch off - when I go to make make a rectangle shape (a) the cursor doesn't change to the familier crosshair and (b) once I drag out a shpae it places in rotator and resize arrows instead of the normal anchor boxes - really anoying and destracting (example image attached).
Anyone know how to remove/disable them? I need my anchor boxes back! 😞
Gerry.
Please go to Preferences > General and turn off "Enable Rich UI"
Could you please take and upload a screenshot of that Preferences > General dialog box while you are in it? Thank you very much.

Hello @Gerry C,
Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind trying the following steps to check if they help:
View >> Show Edges
Or View >> Show Bounding Box
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Anubhav

Which version are you using? I cannot find that Preference setting in shipping, beta or prerelease versions.

I also don't see that option in the latest version of Illustrator.

The option is not available to everyone.

Why?

I wonder if it's for devices with touch-capable screens.
