No me reconoce los .PNG

Hola a todos:

desde hace meses estoy teniendo un problema con Illustrator: no hace absolutamente nada si lo que trato de abrir/colocar/pegar es un .png. Es como si no respondiese a este formato, y además tampoco me da ningín mensaje de error, que es lo curioso. No son archivos png corruptos, llevo meses con este problema y en otros equipos pueden abrir esos png sin problema con el Illustrator. Es Illustrator 2021.

¿Alguien sabe de qué podría ser? Ya he probado a reiniciar, abrir, cerrar, actualizarme el cloud, etc. Agradecería una ayuda, muchas gracias a todos.
