no toolbars show up when starting up illustrator, workspaces dont work

This just started happening the other day, whenever I start up illustrator there are no toolbars showing.  the workspace options like new, reset and manage are greyed out and anytime I click on any of the workspaces built into illustrator it just goes to essentials classic, but nothing happens.  Using windows here.

    just got an update and it seems to be working, thought I had auto updates on. so idk what the issue was, but its working now
