Non-printing layer?

My designer has sent me multiple files wherein there are "Illustrator" or "Vector" layers (these contains text, vectors, etc.) but also the embedded TIFF image in the background he used to align same (in its own layer). In most of the files, when I open them in Illustrator, I can see the TIFF but it is faded, still clear enough to use for alignment purposes but when I import the file into InDesign this layer does not display or print, only the vecotr/print layers show. That's as it should be. But in a few of the files he apparently forgot to make this layer "non-printing" and the entire file (all layers) overlays the page in InDesign. He's not around to fix and I have compared files and can't figure out what layer property in Illustrator makes it "display only" in Illustrator but non-printing (hidden) in InDesign. Little help? Thanks!

Nvm, found it, sorry.
