Offset path acting funny

I'm creating a vector/svg file for an lasercutting and had been using Illustrators offset path for kerf offset on an old set up with no issue, updated recently and now i'm noticing some weirdness where its not creating an even offset, my offset is super small, and so i'm zoomed in, pls see screenshot. I've restarted a few times now and still getting this. Am I missing something, help pls. TIA!

Do you have pixel snapping turned on?

I did not, but for some reason snap to glyph was on and it looks like it fixed the issue.. Thank you!!
