Offset Path random shapes

Community Beginner ,

When using the offset path tool, I continuously run into this glitch, where the new path has random deviations at the top corners. (The inner shape is the original path.) Any advice would be appreciated.

You need to clean up the corners on your inner shape. Looks like the one on the left angles sharply outward right before it comes to a point, which is then accentuated in the offset. The one on the right might have redundant/overlapping anchor points in addition to the first problem.

Thanks so much Chris! This was very helpful. I was able to adjust the corners of the shape, and ended up with a perfect offset.
