Hey Everyone -
LONG time user of Illustrator here... I'm working on a technical design with a 1/8" grid layer in the background. Even with the grid layer locked, every time my pointer is over one of the hundreds of paths which create the grid, Illustrator sees fit to tell me I'm on a 'Path' by way of a screen notification. This is no big deal in many designs, but when working with a grid - it's extremely annoying to have this constant, nonstop reminder of something of which I'm already aware. It's as if I somehow couldn't possibly know, or that I'm breaking some rule, or that it otherwise thinks I'm an imbecile. Question... Is there a way to disable this feature? I've searched the forum high and low but cannot seem to find the correct combination of search terms. A screen capture, showing one such notification is below. Thank you for any meaningful assistance anyone might provide.

Hi Steve,
Please turn Smart Guides off simply by going into View menu. You can also use Ctrl+U (Windows) or Cmd+U(macOS) to toggle it.
You may also know more about it from help article https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/rulers-grids-guides-crop-marks.html#smart_guides
Hope it helps.

Thank you SO much. This was the EXACT solution I needed. Somewhere along the line not so 'smart guides' must have been inadvertantly turned on - most likely by the keystroke command. Since I don't use guides, or smart guides, this explains my lack of understanding. Thank you again.
