Question

Opacity/Transparency is Now a Shade?

Hi Guys,

This might be a dumb question but I just updated my Creative Cloud. I'm in Illustrator and was setting some type to not be 100% opacity, but found it made this type a lighter shade of the colour rather than setting the transparency of the text. So if I go down to 0% opacity, the text is white instead of completely transparent. When I try to make text 50% opacity, the text is still opaque, but the shade of the text is reduced to 50. Is there just some setting I'm missing or is opacity now called something else? I tried it in both the Transparency menu, as well as the Opacity under the Appearance menu. Any insight would be great! Thanks

Pease show the artwork, the layers panel and the appearance panel with selected artwork.

Hi Monika! I am the biggest loser because I was just gathering all these windows to make a screen grab and noticed the "Opacity" was directly under the "fill" swatch in the Appearance menu. So of course, when I selected "Opacity" outside of that, it worked. Sorry for being such a noob. (After 20+ years using this software. HA!) Thank you so much for giving me a nudge to take another look

You're welcome. Glad you got it to work. Isn't that an awesome feeling to have fixed this kind of thing? I love that feeling! (need to stop now before I get carried away over the feeling ...)
