Opening File Goes to Home Screen
Technical out of the way: Illustrator 23 (previous versions as well); MacOS 10.13.6, 2.7 i7, 16GB Ram, Nvidia 605M Video w/1gb video mem.
Problem: If I don't have Illustrator already open, and open a file I've been working on, Illustrator opens, but I get what looks like the home screen with recent files listed in the middle. It's framed by the tools on the left, and my working pallets setup on the right. By this, one would think that maybe the file didn't open, but Illustrator actually has the file open, just the document display never moves past the home/recent documents screen. Nothing I've tried updates the page, but my work around is to go to the file menu and choose to close the document. This then updates closes the document, the tools and pallets disappear, and the proper home/recent files screen visibly refreshes. I can then open the file I just technically had open. This has been going on for a few years. I wonder if it is a conflict with macOS Sierra, but I can't really remember when it started as I usually just click click click and get to business.
Something to note: Once the initial application opening, I don't think this happens again, until restart of system. Preferences have been trashed, new installs, even this new version (Oct. 15) is still having the problem.
Anyone else encountering this? Ideas on why?
Thanks,
Avery
