What happens if you select the artboard in the Artboards panel and just click the trashcan?

Artboard and art are independent from each other, so no, there's no way.

You could first delete the artwork from all pages, and then choose "delete empty artboards" from the flyout menu in artboard panel.

You cannot do that automatically.

You have to identify and then delete the artwork and you also have to delete the artboard.

Next time you do this kind of stuff you might want to organize your objects by grouping them or sorting them in layers. There are methods to select objects by their fill or stroke color, but when they are looking the same, then this won't help.
