Question

OUTLINE STROKE an OUTLINE STROKE.

I have no idea what I am trying to even explain. I just use Illustrator and know what I want to do.

But I have hit a wall here.

This is a font from a font site.. "CREATE OUTLINE" and then "PATH - OFFSET PATH" to create a bold stroke outside the text. But now I want to add a new outline stroke around the black and so that it does not outline stroke the inner parts of the letters and the letters themselves, just the black outline?

How do I do this?

As "Type=Group" you can add strokes in Appearance panel under Character. See image. Changing separate strokes width allow to control style.

So the letters are no longer text, but paths, right?

Copy them and then Edit > paste in front.

Then Object > Compound Path > Relese

And in the pathfinder panel click on Unite (top left button)

Then apply the stroke you want.

You might want to actually have this in the back of the other letters, so you can Edit > Cut

and then Edit > Paste in back.
