Question

Outline Stroke Doesn't Keep Stroke Width

Hoping someone can help me!

I used the shape and pen tool to create a custom icon. I set the stroke size to 10pt but once I outline the stroke it outlines it back to 1pt. I created two other icons with the same method and it worked just fine, but this particular icon isn't. The photo below is showing what is happening for reference. I have also already closed down Illustrator and reopened it without luck of that solving the issue.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You can also try to clear appearance, to get rid of some extra effects that might be on there.

THANK YOU! Opening the Apperance panel and clearing it allowed me to see that the live paint was active. I've been wracking my brain for over an hour trying to figure out something so simple *face palm*. Thanks again, Mike!

Try ungrouping the suitcase. You may have set a stroke at the path level, and another at the group or layer level. Usually that give you both results.

If you can select your suitcase and show us the appearance palette that would help us troubleshoot. You can give 2 screenshots, one selected with the solid pointer tool for group level, and another with the hollow for path level.

Can you share the Illustrator file with the object that is still stroked and the outlined version of it?
