Outline Stroke/issue with fill

Hi, can anyone help please. Whenever I outline a stroke and fill to tint, I get these darker lines randomly appearing on just the curved outline strokes. I don't get this on straight strokes or 100% filled in outline strokes. Only on tinted curved outlines strokes. Does anyone have the same experience or know how to fix this please?

Looks like a preview problem caused by graphics card accelleration.

Try Cmd or Ctrl E to switch between GPU and CPU.

It is a preview problem and should not affect the final result, print or  export.

GPU preview works faster. You can switch back and fort with the shortcut if you do not trust what you see.

Thanks Ton. I did try Cmd E and the strange lines where no long visible. So, should I stick to using CPU rather than GPU now?

Hi there,

Sorry about the trouble. I would like to know if the steps suggested above by @Ton Frederiks worked for you? If not, I would request you to share a few more details like:

  • OS and version of Illustrator
  • Are you using an external GPU? If yes, which GPU is this?
  • Is the issue related to a specific document?
  • Could you please share a sample document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.
  • When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, plugins, or web extensions installed recently.

We will be looking forward to your response.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini

Hi Anshual,

yes the steps suggeseted by Ton, switching to CPU did work.

So, should I keep using CPU in the future. I'm thinking did I switch to GPU for video when using Premier? Perhaps I did. And doe this cause the problem with the strokes and fill?

  1. OS and version of Illustrator - Catalina 10.15.7. Illustrator 2021-25.4.1
  2. Are you using an external GPU? If yes, which GPU is this? - not that I knew of
  3. Is the issue related to a specific document? - no it was happening on all Illustrator files where I used curved tinted lines
  4. Could you please share a sample document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link. - Looks so complicated to use. Is there a simpler way?
  5. When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, plugins, or web extensions installed recently. - Not that I'm aware of.

Thank you for sharing the details. We are currently investigating the issue related to GPU on Mac. As switching to CPU resolves the issue, it confirms that. Please stay tuned for the updates.
