I am self-taught on Illustrator, so forgive me if this is a basic 101 question I should know! BUT, Once a font is converted to outlines, how can I then view what font name it is ???? I am trying to match up new lettering to a font that is already converted to outlines, and im hoping there is an easy way to just find out what the name of the font used was.
THANK YOU!
jammom,
I would suggest your trying these websites in the following order,
http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/
http://www.bowfinprintworks.com/ScriptIDGuide.html (Script fonts)
and/or also post one or more images here and hope for help; I would have added to ask in the Typography forum, only it is no longer with us.

You can try and make a screenshot, then feed it to Whatthefont.com or Whatfontis.com
Apart from that your request would be like turning an omelette back into eggs, I'm afraid.

There is also a Match Font feature inside Photoshop CC. It will look up similar fonts in Typekit. This works great when a matching font exists in Typekit, but sadly the Typekit collection is relatively small compared to using Whatthefont.com.

In addition to the two suggestions by my lovely friends above, if you have Adobe Capture on your phone, you could use the type matching module to se if it can find a match from typekit.

I can't actually answer this question better than the others, but I do have a trick I use to make this easier in the future.
If you are the one creating the file and are about to convert type to outlines, first move all the type to a separate layer in Illustrator. And then name that layer the font name. And then convert to outlines. Your future self will thank you when he/she needs to change the phone number/zipcode/address, whatever, since the layer name will provide the hint of what you set it in.

That's a piece of good, solid advice from pedley_s right there!
