Outside Stroke Steps

Hi guys,

I am trying to do an Outside Stroke to a Text. I would like to look like this

So far i tried a couple of combinations but i cannot quite get the same look. Maybe there is another way to do this and is not Outside Stroke.

Any ideas or suggestions?

It is a brand, named SOMOS (We Are), i think i can use just that couple of words.

I have found a very interesting font named Mexcellent that has a similar look what i am trying to achive

Mexcellent | dafont.com

however its inside stroker are a bit to thick and bold for a cleaner design.

yes, i would like to do the inside stroke of Mexcellent a bit thinner.

Besides i would like to learn to start a outline stroke from scratch from a different from, i.e. Helvetica. How would i start to work with a new font that does not have the inner strokes as Mexcellent font.

Making fonts thinner is not as simple as you might think. For the Mexcellent it might work (in case it really is as geometric as it looks). For Helvetica it might not work just as smooth.

You might try and:

1. Type your word

2. Outline the text: Type > Outline

3. Object > Path > Offset path (negative value)

Try this for your Helvetica as well, but it might not work.

Some font editing software has routines to help with this, but actually it is manual work.
