Question

Pantone colors - off white

I need to find the Pantone color for a certain off white color.

In illustrator when I look up the Pantone color for HEX F1F1EF it changes the color darker to HEX E5E1E6.

I know there isn't a PANTONE for white but I'm trying to find the closest Pantone to the off white I already have.

I guess my question is why does it change to a darker tone and what is the closest Pantone color to HEX F1F1EF.

Here is what Pantone's site says;

"Although opaque white inks exist, Pantone does not provide a reference for white. Generally, if you are printing on white paper and apply no ink to an area, you will achieve white. When ink is needed, it should simply be specified as opaque white, without a PANTONE Reference."

Although, if you wish to plugin your hex # into an online converter to come up with close Pantone suggestions, then try;

Hex to Pantone Converter | Convert Hexadecimal to PMS Color

Is this for something that is supposed to print? If so, you could provide a print out of your desired color to an ink vendor so they can formulate a custom color.

This conversion depends on your color management settings. Additionally it looks like you're using that HEX code in a CMYK document.

That way your chances to get a decent result are very low.

I would really suggest you buy a printed Pantone swatches book and then look it up. Nobody knows how that HEX color looks for you. We don't know how your system displays color.
