Paste suddenly not working in Illustrator

I use Illustrator every fews days and when I opened it today, paste won't work. I'll copy something, but Ctrl+V doesn't do anything. I've also tried copying something and gone to the Edit menu but "paste" isn't even enabled. I haven't had any software updates installed since I used it last or anything. I've tried closing the applicaiton multiple times and reopening it, but it doesn't fix the problem. I've tried on multiple different files and on a new file but still paste won't work. I tried an internet search on the issue and can't find anything either. I've tried copying and pasting both text and graphics and neither work. Any ideas on what is going on?
