Pasted text won't keep color within same document

When I copy colored text and pasting it within the same document, same text box, it won't keep color.

Any ideas why??

Which system?

What exactly do you copy where? A text object? The text characters? Do you paste them into another text object?

Which font is it?

Do you have clipboard management software installed in your system?

Illustrator cc2019 and 2018

OS 10.12.6

Just plain text, from a plain text frame, within the same text frame.

It's doing this with any fonts.

No clipboard management software.

I can't reproduce it. Please show screenshots of what you're doing step by step.

Please include the appearance and character panels. Might be necessary
