Pasting Symbols to all artboards duplicates Symbol in the panel

Currently, if I copy and paste a symbol to all artboards, then it also copies them within the Symbols panel -- one for each artboard. I'm working in Adobe CC, latest update, on a Windows OS. This happens whether I use keyboard shortcuts or the Edit menu, and even if I only copy-and-paste one instance at a time. The only method that doesn't do this is holding Alt while click-and-dragging one at a time. Any idea how to make this stop?

Maybe you can submit a bug report here:

Adobe Illustrator Feedback

Here Pasting symbols now creates unique symbols instead of instances of the original symbol – Adobe Illustrator Feedback  is bug report about same problem, so let's vote for fixing it.

Can't reproduce here, at least not with consistency.

In several different sequence combinations, I did get one instance in which the symbol paste resulted in a duplicate (one duplicate when pasting to 5 artboards) appearing in the Symbols panel, but now I can't seem to reproduce that, so I don't feel certain I have full grasp of the conditions under which it occurred that one time.

23.0.1 in Win 7 and Win 10.

What kind of objects does your symbol contain? Can you perhaps provide a sample .ai file?

There used to be a pretty old bug in conjunction with symbols that contained rasterized objects. Don't know if that may be related to your issue.

Unfortunately, I can't provide the AI file. But I think you're right about the kind of objects the symbol contains. There was a logo in it that contained a bunch of objects that Illustrator only classified as "non-native art." When I removed the logo from the symbol, the paste functions worked perfectly. Then, I pulled apart the layers and got rid of all the non-native art, and it worked again.

Do you happen to know if there's a way to get around that glitch without pulling the troublesome object?
