Pattern path with difference in horizontal and vertical orientation

Hi,

I would like to create a pattern path which allow me to made a difference between direction.

See the image.

I would like the center symbol to stay in the same orientation all along the path. 
In the pattern Brush Options I can customize corners, but nothing about horizontal and vertical.

Is there a way to do it?

Well, no. You will have to use multiple different strokes. AI has no intelligent strokes with parametric entities that could adjust themselves in such a fashion.
