I made two patterns today, one of some succulents, one of some doodled coffee cups. Here is my issue, when I attempted to export the coffee cups which are a separate pattern, somehow the succulents show up even though I can't find it anywhere in my layers and it does not even show up in illustrator. Anyone have any solution for this weird pattern merging export problem??

how patterns look in illustrator^

After exporting: coffee cup pattern suddenly has succulents in it? whyy

When you say you are exporting the pattern, how are you doing this? Can you explain the exact workflow you have used. Are the patterns in the same file? Are they on the same layers?

I have tried exporting as png and pdf, both show the weird pattern mashup. I made the patterns on the same artboard and saved them under the same swatch library, which maybe was my mistake... But they were definitely saved as separate patterns and within illustrator show up as unjoined patterns. I have tried making new documents and somehow the error persists. I have also tried putting them on separate layers and using exclusively one pattern on a new document, but somehow the succulent pattern shows up. I'm pretty new to illustrator so I may be missing something simple, but I can't figure out how to fix this.

Maybe you can share the .ai file (using dropbox, WeTransfer or your CC files folder)?

Does View >> overprint preview show that art as the exported outcome?
You may have an extra fill underneath. Check your appearance panel for extra filled, and your attributes panel of undesired overprint fills.
