Advert done in illustrator. Fonts outlined then file dropped onto the acrobat distiller... It generates weird grid lines and this seems to be a long running problem... Any ideas?

Correct answer Ton Frederiks

This is expected behaviour and not a Distiller error.

Why are you using Distiller at all?

Distiller is last century's workflow, so is there any reason why you are using it?

Smaller file sizes when I drag an Adobe Illustrator EPS file onto the app window... I'll quite happily give up and just save directly out of illustrator if thats the fix though... Thank you...

Just out of interest... Any Adobe employees / experts got any comments on distiller error? Is it in fact old dead technology now?

Distiller is still of use, but not when creating PDF files from Adobe Illustrator.

But concerning your error: look at your PDF file at a high magnification. It may well be that the grid lines ore only preview errors.

Open Distiller, go to the settings menu, save your preset.

You need to check the PDF settings. If you don't want it, then don't let it produce tiles. otherwise you need to check overprint and al lthat - in Acrobat, not AI.

I didnt know you could let the distiller produce tiles for print settings... Any idea where to find them? Had to do the PDF through illustrator which makes a bigger file... Cheers for the quick reply...
