Pen Tool Path Preview Disappeared

Typically when using the pen tool, Illustrator will give you a "preview" of the line you are about to make before you click. For some reason now, the pen tool is not showing the preview line for straight lines, but when I click and drag to make a curve, the curved preview line will appear. Does anyone know how to turn the preview line back on?

    You probably want to turn on the Rubber Band in the preferences for the Pen tool and/or the Curvature tool.

      I checked the Rubber Band and it is turned on. I even tried resetting the Illustrator settings to default, but the path is still not showing up. So strange!

      It is working now.. I'm a teacher and this was happening on one of the student computers. The student left for lunch and when he came back, it was working fine again. I'm guessing it was just something weird going on with Illustrator or with the school computers.
