New Here ,
May 27, 2019 May 27, 2019

It's a file that I used to work with Windows, and I tried to edit it on the Mac and save it, but it's say i  don't have permission, so why is this? The error number is ID : -5000.

Where are you traing to save it? On a server?

Try saving to the local harddisk and then move it to the server.

It's about access permissions on the disk or the folder or the file. Ask your administrator.

Looks like a permissions problem. If your computer are not connected to a network, check the disk permissions. There are utilities for that task.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you are getting the permission error while saving the file. This generally happens when the files are saved on remote locations, from where multiple people can access it at the same time. Please try saving the file on Desktop and let us know if that helps. If not, please share the following details:

  • OS (Exact version of MAC)
  • Version of Illustrator
  • Where the files are saved
  • Is the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)? If yes, can you please share the document(s)/asset(s) with us?

You can also try the steps shared here: Preferences folder read-only error in Illustrator and let us know if it helps you to save the file.

Regards,

Srishti
