Question

Persistent "Export As..." settings?

I need to use the File--Export--"Export as" command very frequently. And EVERY SINGLE TIME I use this I have to:

-change the format from PNG to JPG

-select the "Use Artboards" checkbox.

Is there a way to make Illustrator remember these export settings? It becomes a bit tiresome to select the same options everytime!

This won't work with a plain action as the Use Artboards option is not being recognised while recording.

There may be some sort of workaround action including some additional steps. If you can provide a couple of Illustrator files, I may take a look at them and see what can be done.

Thanks Kurt, I was just struggling to figure out how to do this in Actions, a part of Illustrator I don't often use. I figured out how to insert a menu item into my action, but that doesn't solve my problem since it still prompts me with the same dialog I'd get if I were to simply go to the "File-Export-Export As..." command. But, like I said, I'm not too familiar with setting up Actions, so maybe there is something else that can be done there?

I don't think I need to send you any Illustrator files to show you what I'm looking to do. I simply want to be able to export any Illustrator file without having to manually change the format from "PNG" to "JPEG" and "use artboards" every single time.

Did you already try and recorded an action?

How would that work, given that I need to name the files and save them in different locations everytime?

You can turn on the dialog box, so that it shows.
