Please Help - black boxes on Brothers but all is great on HP

Hi folks,

I fell entirely powerless. we built a large marketing brochure using Illustrator and it has embedded pictures in two places. when we export this file to PDF and open PDF on a screen we see a perfecct replica.

when we send PDF to an HP printer we get a perfect document on the paper.

when we send PDF to a Brother printer we get black boxes in every space where pictures are.

Brother support shows me the middle finger saying "this is PDF problem"

Adobe support shares nonsense "since HP prints PDF perfectly this is Brother problem"

is there any ideas?

The file may be too big for the Brother to print, since you embedded images in your file.  Has the Brother been able to print other files?  Have you updated the firmware and the drivers to match your operating system?  Another possibility is using lower resolution pics in a separate file named loRes.  Make a copy of the file and replace the images with lower res versions ( around 100ppi ).  You could also use RGB versions to lower the res even further.

SlavaT,

I believe John has given the answer, the reason for the failure and ways to check it.

If that is the case you may try to find out whether it is possible to extend the crucial kind of memory (which leads back to the Brother support).

SlavaT,

Are you using the PostScript (PS) emulating printer driver on the HP printer?

Is there a PostScript (emulating) printer driver on the Brother printer, and if there is, what happens if you use that?

If there is none, is it possible to download one (question to the Brother support)?

This seems to be going the wrong way where instead of answers you get first one and then three questions, one even throwing you back to the Brother support and their sign language.

SlavaT,

Have you disabled every possible (un)helpful (kind of) management by the Brother printer driver?
