Please help! Unknown errors when using the 3D effect on Illustrator

Hi there

When I use effect>3d>Revolve to make a 3d image like the above, I see an error message, "An unknown error has occurred. Click [More Information] to try some solutions to troubleshoot your problem." and the feature doesn't work.

I contacted the support team to fix this problem and they suggested everything. Window and GPU upgrade, reinstallation, removing the Adobe Illustrator 26 Settings, etc but those didn't solve it.

After testing by myself, I found that when the size of the artboard is big(such as 4500x5100pixels, 300ppi) the error shows up. And when I use the feature on the smaller artboard(such as 500x500pixels, 36 ppi), the error message is not showing.

So so far, I assume the "unknown error" shows when the size of the artboard is too big that using a 3d effect slows the workflow.

I wonder if there are others who experience this error and know the exact reason and how to solve it.

Please help! Thanks in advance.

The 3D and materials is demanding.

So if your artwork is complex and has complex materials, it might just reach its limits. 16 GB RAM is the recommended minimus.

The shape in the screenshot looks like a cylinder, but is it really just a cylinder? There seems to be more to it. Can you upload the file somewhere?

Please check the file uploaded. Actually, it is just a simple path of a divided circle. Even though I adjust the effect>3d>Revole to a simple circle, the same error appears. The problem is sometimes the error doesn't show up some times. For example, a few hours ago, I wasn't able to use the effect on a single object on a 4500x5100 pixel artboard.

But now, when I adjust the effect to 1 object, the error doesn't show up. But when I adjust the effect to 2 or 3 objects, the error appears again.

I tried uploading the illustrator file but I can't since I see the message below.

Correct the highlighted errors and try again.

"The attachment's test test.ai content type (application/postscript) does not match its file extension and has been removed."

Would you check the google drive link below to check the file?

If even resetting the preferences and uninstalling/reinstalling doesn't help, then it could be that your computer just doesn't match the specifications.

I don't have issues with that object, not even with a raster effect resolution of 300 ppi.

There's one thing you can try: apply a stroke of None and make it a red fill.

Strokes can cause some weird overlaps in the underlying structure and maybe that throws off Illustrator .
