Please help vectorize a simple graphic

Hi, can someone please help me with the attached graphic. I started with a low quality image. After a little Photoshop work I brought it back into Illustrator and changed the color from black to white because it will be printed on a black Tshirt. The teeth of the lion look strange. I have tried several things to make it look good but I can't figure it out. Thanks in advance for any help!

I suspect it looks odd to you because your brain expects white teeth and a dark mouth.

The obvious choice is to use the exquisite solution by Peter.

Otherwise, you can use (a caption with) the explanation that the lion is busy bringing the gun to its trophy stash and will brush (the blood off) its teeth later.
