PNG from Photoshop to Illustrator not transparent

I made an cutout of a glass cup and saucer transparent. In photoshop when I change the bakground I can see that the glass is tansparent but when I export it as a PNG and import it to Illustrator the transparency of the glass goes away.

This is the image exported through Photoshop. As you can see the blue background here can be seen through the glass.

This is the image exported through Illustrator. Here it's not showing.

Can you share that transparent Photoshop png?

Does .psd work?

.psd still makes the glass not transparent.

Just a quick hack if I may. Sometimes all you have to do is a new layer with your stamped layers on top (SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+N, and then SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+E, also known as the claw shortcut!) and use this new layer as a new document (though not editable anymore) to paste into your illustrator file. That way you'll retain all the visible elements, on a single layer. Most notably the blending modes.
I do that when I have to achieve results with the blend-if option, that cannot translate in illustrator (paricularly for shadows)
Not sure it helps you, but I thought I would throw that in the basket.

This was the first thing I tried after exporting as a PNG didn't work. Appreciate your response though.
