Pngs placing with background

Hello,

I am having issues with pasting or placing PNG files into illustrator. Everytime a white background is added. 

• I have used the same files on other collegues computers and they are fine, no backgrounds added.
• I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling illustrator.
• I have imported over a collegues settings over mind and that did not work. 

Any help would be appreciated.

Pasting had issues in the past and could still have some.

How do you place them?

WHich version is it? Please give us a number.

have tried all ways, copy/paste, placing linked, placing embedded. 

I am using v29.3.1 currently

And you place them via the File > Place dialog?

Are the files on your hard disk?

Can you share one of these PNGs?

Yes file > place, Yes saved on my harddrive and also tried desktop. 

attached is an example, saved as png in photoshop with transparent background, placed into illustrator and it gets a white back ground.

all of these files work fine on my other collegues computers.

Works fine here. Does switching between GPU and CPU Preview make a difference? Cmd or Ctrl E

thank you!!! could have sworn i had tried this but this has worked changing it to CPU.

Good to hear that helped.

works fine for me as well.

You probably need to reboot the computer and reset the preferences, which will of course erase all your settings.
