Precision issues in Illustrator 2020

With the new updates for Illustrator 24.1 and 24.1.2 there is a units bug with the Millimeter settings.

Creating a new document on the legacy settings, template size print A4, measures will be 210,0016 x 297,0001 mm instead of 210x297 mm.
This problem also occure with creating a rounded rectangle with corner, then offset path 1,5 mm.
The corner radius will be 3,4999 mm instead of 3,5 mm.

Already tried to use all the default setting.
Still running version 24.0.3, English, Mojave 10.14.6

Any suggestions?

Hi there,

Sorry about the changed experience. This has been reported by a few other users as well and our Product team is currently looking into it. I would request if you can upvote this issue here (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-bugs/suggestions/39906568-illustrator-24-1-metric-precision-broken) and share your feedback in comments.

Please note - There are no changes made internally on how Illustrator handle dimensions. This is just a display issue which is being worked on. You can be assured about the precise dimensions of the artwork/objects created within the app.

Srishti

For clarification, opening a 24.0.3 file in 24.1.2 gives a correct artboard size. Select a path with corner 0,5 mm, then offset path 1,5 mm (for clipping mask) gives a corner radius 2,0001 instead of 2 mm. Also the shape and w/h are incorrect.

After double checking, those inexact, initial round values appear when clicking the small circle that controls the corner radius values. After restting them and linking all four they stay.

On the latest build I can confirm your last statement,

Illustrator is not rounding or keeping exact values of rounded corners:

I have a rectangle with a corner radius of 4,0000 mm, but when when I reslect the object, values dance between 3.9999 and 4.0001. After manually setting each of the four values to 4 it hold that exact value, but it's really a paint. Not sure if it is a rounding error or a real inexact value.

With the update 24.1 all of our iMacs (Mojave) on the workfloor we're experiencing the same problem.

Because of the problem we decided to stay on 24.0.3.

Don't know if it is the legacy template file. Document file info with version 24.0.3 gives a size: 210,0016 x 297,0001 mm. Artboard gives 210 x 297 mm. New document gives 210 x 297 mm.

Problem on 24.1 and 24.1.2 comes when creating and opening old/new files.

The round corner issue started with update 24.1

the same problems here (german version, din formats / artboards 210,0016 mm etc.)
