Printing from Illustrator Epson Roll Paper Won't Auto Cut

I'm using Illustrator CC with MacOS 10.13.1 and printing to an Epson SureColor P10000 with an Adobe PostScript 3 Hardware Module, and PS3 PostScript v10.06 driver.

All MacOS applications auto cut the roll paper except Adobe's. Printing from Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat will not auto-cut the roll paper by default.

The printer is set to auto-cut. The printer driver is set to normal-cut.

Epson is saying it's an Adobe issue since it only happens with Adobe Apps.

What's the best way get a solution from Adobe?

All MacOS applications auto cut the roll paper...

Do you mean all your other applications, or is there some independently established fact with respect to all Mac OS applications?

Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat will not auto-cut the roll paper by default.

So is it the "by default" part of that statement that's the problem, or is it that the printer won't cut at all when printing from Adobe applications?

Epson is saying it's an Adobe issue since it only happens with Adobe Apps.

That's surprising. I'm not sure any source application even can issue the cut command to a printer, let alone take up sole responsibility for it. I'd say whomever made that statement took an opportunistic sidestep from the issue.

If there is a solution for Adobe to offer (I have doubts), posting here may have been a good first move, and of course you can always contact their customer support.

Hi John, thanks for the reply. Let me clarify what is happening and why it appears to be isolated to Adobe applications.

If you're asking what I mean by all MacOS applications. I tried Microsoft Word, Excel, Apple Pages, Numbers, Text Edit, Photos, Google Chrome, Firefox, TextWrangler.

The printer has been set to auto cut the paper by default, and the printer does auto-cut the paper when printing from the applications listed above.

When printing from Adobe Illustrator, InDesign or Acrobat the printer does not auto-cut, even though the preference in the Adobe PostScript 3 Hardware Module has been set to auto-cut as the default setting.

The printer driver does have a setting for choosing auto-cut, but it is either not being honored by the Adobe applications or Adobe's print system is not initializing the setting.

My understanding is that the PostScript driver's PPD file contains each printers settings and characteristics. I have been focusing on the PPD with Epson support, but Adobe has their own print dialog settings which can formulate and send commands directly to the Adobe RIP inside the printer.

I wish Adobe had a developer bug reporting website like Apple's so I could have this issue acknowledged.
