Problem with eraser tool on path

When i try to delete path with eraser tool or cut it with scissors, path just keep moving outside of selected area, it does not disappear. Maybe it is something that is easy to fix, but i am new to Illustrator.

    That's what the eraser does when used on a closed path.

    What is preventing you using the scissors tool?
