Question

Problems Exporting Illustrator to DXF

I am using Illustrator 28.1.  Files that I created last week and exported as DXF's using AutoCAD 2018 do not show up at all when I open the DXF files.  I (thought I) was able to open them last week!  There are layers in the Illustrator file, so I selected the artwork that I wanted before exporting and chose "export selected artwork only".  I am self-taught, so it's entirely possible that I am doing something wrong.  Am I the only one having this problem?

    Hi @gbmdi,

Thanks for reaching out. It's essential to understand your workflow. Would you mind sharing a screen recording? Have you checked if the issue persists in the previous Illustrator version? Additionally, ensure your export settings are accurate. If you export the selected artwork, only that part will be exported. If that selected part is not showing up in AutoCad, then try exporting the entire artboard. It might help.

We are having the same issue.  Layers are being lost on the export. This file has 2 layers, one is the registration layer and the other is the cut layer.  The cut layer gets lost on the export to DXF

    Hello @SS55200,

I'm sorry to hear you're having the same trouble. The sample file you've shared seems to be empty. Would you mind resharing a sample file, along with screenshots of the settings used, how the file looks in Illustrator and the output along with the version of Illustrator installed, so I can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
