Problems while editing text on a particular Illustrator file

Hi, I was working in a document and suddenly the text tool stopped working, as in I can select text but not edit it. How do I fix this? I have another document opened and everything is fine there.

without any info on your system, the fonts you use etc. nobody can really tell you much. My guess would be that you accidentally selected a font with an incomplete set of characters or a different encoding and the text engine goes belly up because it can't generate the actual contours. start by setting the relevant text to a different font.

Thank you, it apparently crahsed. I managed to save another version of the same document but now I can't group text areas. All the fonts I am using were activated from Typekit. I'm on a  2017 MacBook Pro, 8 GB and subscribed to Adobe.
