Problems with brush

For what ever reason brush tool is not being affected by profile I choose and brush definition is automatically switching back to 5 pt. round all the time...

I don't know whats wrong with it...

width profiles work on strokes, not brushes.

Adding to what Doug said, you can't use the width profile on calligraphic brushes. However, you can use it on art brush and pattern brushes.
