Properties panel issue. Is this a problem for others?

Ive just updated to 25.4.1 and now I can't type values into the properties panels. Only the sliders work which is very frustrating.

Also there's some crazy stuff going on when trying to scale type on a path (not to do with preferences). Arrghhh!

Should I go back a few updates or has anyone got any solutions?

Thank you

Hi there,

Sorry about the trouble. I would like to know if the steps suggested above by @marliton and @Ares Hovhannesyan worked for you? If not, I would request you to share a few more details like:

  • OS and version of Illustrator
  • Does this happen while working on a specific document? If yes, could you please share the document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.
  • When did this start happening?
  • Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, plugins, or web extensions installed recently.

Also, you may try the following steps and let us know how it goes:

  • Rename the CEP folder to CEP.old from the following location:
    MAC: /Library/Application Support/Adobe
    Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
  •  If that doesn't help, rename the extensions folder to extensions.old in the following location:
    MAC: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/UXP
    Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\UXP
  • If that doesn't help either, uninstall the application using the CC Cleaner tool and reinstall from the Creative Cloud Desktop app.

We will be looking forward to your response.

Thanks all for your help.

I haven't tried the cleaner tool or the above steps yet, but did find that if I switch my workspace from Classic to Essentials this solves the typing in field problem for a while (until it reverts again!).

Hopefully I'll get it sorted soon and I can let you all know.

Is it the case that you can't type at all, or that you can't highlight text?

The latter has been noted in this year's CC:

https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/42354466-drag-to-select-text-in-fields-broken-with-update

I haven't experienced not being able to type at all; I can still click into the field and type.
